Palm Beach Notes: Sunset Photos—Choose the Side Before You Depart
Golden hour on the water is predictable if you decide one thing early: which side of the yacht should face the light.
If your itinerary includes photos—even informal ones—make the decision before the yacht leaves the dock.
The one choice that changes everything
Ask the captain which course you’ll run near sunset, then pick the side you want:
- Warmer, softer light: put guests on the sun-facing side.
- Clean silhouettes: keep guests on the shadow side and shoot into the glow.
A small etiquette detail
Keep the bow clear during tight turns and traffic. Photos look better when the movement is graceful—so does seamanship.
A practical finish
Have a second set of glasses ready (salt spray happens), and keep a lint roller near the salon door.
